Peter
J. Grant, P.E., Class of '68
Mr. Peter J. Grant, a 1968 civil engineering
graduate of Michigan Tech, is President of Grant Forest Products
Corporation and Grant Development Corporation. After graduation,
Peter became a civil engineer for Al Johnson Construction
and, later, plant manager for Elk Planning Mill Limited. He
became President of the latter in 1976. Also in 1976, he became
President of Grant Lumber Company Limited. He founded Grant's
Transport Limited in 1979, and served as its President until
1985. His efforts led to the formation of Grant Forest Products
Corporation and Grant Development Corporation. As the largest
single site consumer of round wood in the province of Ontario,
Grant Forest Products Corporation employs over 900 people
in various capacities associated with lumber and wood panel
production.
Mr. Grant now serves as Chairman of the
Structural Board Association, which represents the interests
of waferboard and oriented-strand board (OSB) manufacturers
in Canada, the U.S., England, France, and Chile. Peter is
also active in a number of local, provincial, national, and
international programs including children's and adult's sporting
events, charitable organizations, and mathematics and science
proficiency bursaries. He is a registered professional engineer
with the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario.
As an alumnus of Michigan Tech, he is a member of the President's
Club. |
