Kenneth
E. Noll, Ph.D., P.E., Class of '59
Dr. Kenneth E. Noll, is a Professor and former Department
Chair of Environmental Engineering, Illinois Institute of
Technology. Dr. Noll earned his baccalaureate degree from
Michigan Tech in civil engineering with honor in 1959, did
graduate work in meteorology as an Air Force Officer at the
University of Wisconsin, and was awarded master's and doctoral
degrees in civil engineering from the University of Washington.
Dr.
Noll is the former Director of two U.S. EPA-sponsored Centers:
the Industrial Waste Elimination Research Center and the Air
Pollution Training Center, and has also served as the Chairman
of the Pritzker Department of Environmental Engineering for
more than five years. He is internationally renowned in the
field of air pollution design and control, has conducted courses
in several countries, co-directed workshops for NATO, gave
presentations at many international conferences, and co-authored
an environmental text for UNESCO. He is the author of numerous
papers and books, and has patented several sampling instruments.
In
1994, Dr. Noll was honored by the Air and Waste Management
Association and awarded the Lyman A. Ripperton Award, given
for distinguished achievement as an educator in the field
of air pollution control. He is a Member, Board of Directors,
Illinois Hazardous Waste Research and Information Center;
Advisory Committee Member, New York City, VOC Emissions from
Wastewater Treatment Plants Study; past Member, U.S. EPA Technical
Review Committee on Air Quality Criteria for Particulate Matter;
and has served as a member of numerous other professional
committees and affiliations.
