Christopher
Kaempfer, P.E., Class of '71
Mr.
Kaempfer, President and Chief Engineer, Kaempfer & Associates,
Inc., received his baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering
from Michigan Technological University in 1971 and his master's
degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla
in 1972. He entered the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lt in the Corps
of Engineers in the Fall of 1972. After basic and advanced
officer training courses at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, he was
assigned to the 864th Engineer Battalion as the Civil Engineer
and Construction Engineer for the Unit.
After
leaving the U.S. Army, Mr. Kaempfer worked for three consulting
engineering companies until he started his own consulting
firm, Kaempfer & Associates, in 1987. The firm started
with three full-time and two part-time employees and has grown
to twenty-seven employees. The firm has specialized in wastewater
management and water supply engineering. The firm has served
approximately 60 municipal clients in Wisconsin and northern
Michigan from their office in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin.
Mr.
Kaempfer is a registered professional engineer in Oregon,
Wisconsin, Michigan, and Illinois and is a member of ASCE,
AWWA, and WEF. He has prepared a number of technical papers
on water supply and wastewater management issues and has presented
two of the papers at the annual WEF Conference. Mr. Kaempfer
has served on the technical advisory committee for establishing
effluent limits for ammonia in Wisconsin and has presented
several short courses on wastewater treatment at the University
of Wisconsin-Madison.
Chris
and his wife, Christy, live near Oconto Falls, Wisconsin,
about 30 miles north of Green Bay. They have two daughters
who now live in the state of Washington. Their daughter, Holley,
received her BSCE and MSEnE from Michigan Tech in 1998 and
her doctorate from UM Rolla in 2002.
